Benedetto Marcello Six Sonatas for cello and basso

The fourth edition of 2022 is out, and it is something I have been working on for a very long time: finally, the first edition in modern notation, and yet faithful to the source, of Benedetto Marcello’s (1686—1739) Six Sonatas for cello and basso continuo, is available!

These sonatas are among the most beautiful examples of cello music of the Baroque period, a must-have for every cellist. They are perfect for students who have just learned how to read the tenor clef and would like to have a taste of the thumb position in practice.

This edition comes in a giant bundle-book of 98 pages, containing: the full score, the cello part, the basso part, and a supplemental cello part dedicated to paper printing. It will soon be enriched with additional cello parts containing bowing and fingering suggestions dedicated to both beginner and more advanced performers.

I hope you will enjoy them as much as I have enjoyed engraving them!
