Dotzauer Project - Episode V - To the Opera!

The fifth episode of the Dotzauer Project is out and brings with it the conclusion of its first phase, which saw the publication of all five of his books of “Pieces for Two Cellos”.

Op. 63, beside being the most challenging one, also contains the most popular pieces, with no less than five arrangements from opera arias by Mozart (La Clemenza di Tito, Die Zauberflöte) and Rossini (Ciro in Babilonia, Tancredi). Three fugues, an 80-bars-long canon, and more complete the collection.

The Editorial Notes describe carefully the origin of each piece, whose sources I truly enjoyed hunting. Original & Collectors’ Editions (with two alternative sets!) are available.
